Just thought I would drop you a note of support. I have three children, and I breastfed all of them, at least a few months before I went back to work. My youngest is five months old, and though I am supplementing him with solids (because I did not *want* to nurse every two hours, he was hungry all the time!), I am planning on nursing him until we *both* decide he is ready to wean. After Corwyn (my baby) was born, I was very very ill. And when he was five days old, I went to the emergency room twice in three days. Turns out I needed my gallbladder out. With all the painkillers, they did not want me to nurse, so I bought a breast pump (on the way home from the emergency room the first time) and I would sit in my hospital bed and pump breast milk (which I later threw away because it had morphine in it.) But once I got the surgery, I went right back to nursing him, boy was he glad. Ten days old, and he was away from me overnight. I cried and cried and cried. I know what you must have gone through. Our prayers are with you. Check and see if there is a "La Leche League" down under. They are a breastfeeding support group in the USA that has had an impact, and I know they have a webpage...
Blessings to your family.
