Want to comment on this? HAVE YOUR SAY Steve Ward from Nelson Bay Australia Docs claim that they work to help families….. all the evidence that I have seen tells me that some of their staff act contrary to their stated aims.
Why are children removed from their primary support … “The Family” when parents are not involved in the complaint?
Why must school teachers, youth workers, by law breach the trust of the parents, by reporting to Docs and are fobiden to mention any thing to the parents?
Wake up DOCs, look at who you are employing? Are they in a stable family relationship, are the demonstrating that they can live what they preach? Are there skeletons in their closets? Abused as children? Unresolved issues in their lives?
Wake up teachers and youth workers, make some judgement calls of your own. If the parents are not part of the problem, and likely to be supportive, then encourage the child to “Go tell Mum or Dad that I will have to report this tomorrow”.
I know teachers who have taken this approach, and successfully retained the parents support and trust, and satisfied the law.

Want to comment on this? HAVE YOUR SAY Adam Todd from Sydney Australia Dear Ward Family,
I'd like to thank you for quickly notifying me about the incident you are closely connected to. We hope the remaining child will be returned on Monday afternoon.
We are still investigating why the younger child was returned to the parents four days prior to the older child. Certainly there is question about the process and tacts being used to "protect" the older child.
More will be posted about this incident on the new "Parent Support" web site being created later this week.
In relation to DOCS staff, few if any have any form of qualification. Most do NOT have basic Psychology degrees of any type. Few have Child Care Certificates and outside of that - well.
There are questions that will be raised as to WHY DOCS on a complaint about a child where the parents are not at fault are removed.
There will also be questions raised asking why Section 60 is constantly used by DOCS staff. Section 60 is a LAST RESORT. By our information DOCS staff are told "Forget about anything less than Section 60, because there is too much paper work to do. With Section 60, we just grab the kids, foster them and let the parents fill in the forms."
If that doesn't bring many questions to be raised about the ABUSE (and I do not use that word as lightly as DOCS do) of power, then one has to question the integrity of DOCS, the ACT and the Policies by which they are suppose to follow.
Please keep up the support and keep telling your friends and people you come in contact with about our story. Please continue to share the URL for AJ's WEB SITE.
We have so much public support to try and clean up the DOCS (and even the Police) matters.
I'm also looking for volunteers who can act as support people in crisis situations and any other family who is prepared to share their story or just help as a support person. I found in talking with a family recently the fact that we were so innocently accused and understood what they were going through helped put the family at ease and concentrate on their family staying together and to resolve the problem.
Please encourage people who have been touched by the trauma of DOCS to contact me - any time. Even if an matter is actually occuring. We are here to help.
A 1800 Parent support line will be announced in a few weeks time. We still need more people to help take calls and be on rosters. Only an hour a week on standby is all that is needed for the 1800 number, you an also offer to be a local onsite support person for incidents depending on your availability. The entrie Parent SUpport Network will be managed via Interent on a Web Site so yu can roster on and off as you please, instantly.
Thanks to all the people still writing to us, thanks to those who have commented, and many thanks to those whos thoughts are about our family every day. We wouldn't be able to hold it together without you.
Please feel free to call us any time, even if you just want to call to say hello. That thought of support is far greater than any gift anyone can offer.
Sincerely to all Australian families, warm regards,
Adam Todd Want to comment on this? HAVE YOUR SAY |
