I don't deny you were in the technical right, but would opening the door that first time really have hurt anything? Seems like you went out of your way to be pedantically difficult at them ... *shrug* Just an opinion.

The question of opening the door on the DOs first visit has been raised several times. What is important to remember is that the DOs never showed any ID. In fact they didn't even give their names when they were asked.

You can read the general transcript of the conversation at the 4:45 PM visit in the page dated 30 Sept at 8:00 PM.

Being a parent isn't easy at the best of times, and having unknown strangers that can't be identified by the Authorities own office casts doubt as to whether their legitimacy was in fact true.

All they needed to do was identify themselves and their matter. Read also the extratct from the POLICE boolkets under 1 Oct 98 the link called "Police Info", even the police clearly state do not open the door without ID and even call and see if the ID is real.

I don't know many people who allow strangers in the door "who want to talk" about anything. Do you?

you were so right not to let these people into your home, without proper I.D. we hear so often of home attacks, there is no way my husband and i would have acted any differently in the same situation.Keep up the pressure and make these people accountable. This is supposed to be a happy time in your lives and they are taking that away from you, there are children out there that are really in need of help, and are probably not getting it. The DoCS really need to take a long hard look at themselves and address some major issues. The first year as a new parent can be stressful enough without everyone putting in their view of how things should be done. i breast fed both my children till they were about 18 months old and got a lot of critisism over it, other people i know didn't wish to breast feed at all and got a lot of critisism, some people are just not happy unless they are poking their noses in to others lives. Do what works for your family, and take no notice of those who think they know better. None of us are perfect parents, there is no such creature. We all do the best we can, keep your chins up, and know that you have a lot of support from far and wide
